Elmore “Joe” Dufour

Funeral services for Elmore "Joe" Dufour, age 73 of Mansura, will take place on Thursday, October 22, 2015 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Paul Catholic Church of Mansura. Visitation will be held at the Escude Funeral Home of Mansura on Wednesday, October 21, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will resume Thursday morning at 8:00 a.m. Elmore "Joe" Dufour passed away at his home in Mansura on Tuesday, October 20, 2015.

He was preceded in death by his father, Louis "Bud" Dufour, Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years, Dianne Dufour of Mansura; daughter, Glynis (Randy) Quebedeaux of Mansura; son, Bryan Joseph Dufour of Gonzales; mother, Ida Francois of Cottonport; sisters: Kathi (Larry) Lachney of Cottonport, Lorraine Chauffepied of Cottonport, & Elaine (Van) Michel of Prairieville; brothers, Bobby (Donna) Francois of Cottonport & Terry (Christine) Francois of Bunkie. He is also survived by three granddaughters: Rebecca Francis Scioneaux, Ashley Elizabeth Scioneaux, & Camille Catherine Quebedeaux. Those honored to serve as pallbearers: Rodney Jeansonne, Kenny Jeansonne, Randy Quebedeaux, Larry Lachney, Todd Jeansonne, & Bobby Francois.

Joe served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 6 years as an automotive & body repairman. After serving his country, he worked in the banking industry for 45 years in Avoyelles Parish. He was a member of the Bunkie J.C.'s and held local, regional, & state positions. Joe was also a member of the Bunkie Knights of Columbus serving as secretary & president. He also served in the Bunkie Chamber of Commerce and the Parish Counsel for St. Anthony. Joe was always willingly and ready to volunteer for his community, parish, or any event to help others. He was a friendly and kind hearted person who never met a stranger. Joe will be missed dearly by his family & friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in Joe's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN

Joe graduated from Cottonport High School in May 1960, after completing his first 10 grades at Evergreen High School
