Funeral services for Sophie Mae Williams Scott will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 6, 2011 at the Little Rock Baptist Church with Bishop Melvin Jackson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie.

Mrs. Scott, age 81, of Bunkie, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2011 in Rocky Mount, NC. She attended Tanner Dyke School in Evergreen. In 1955, she was in the first graduating class at Rosalie Beauty School in Bunkie, having a career in the field of Cosmetology. She was very active in all aspects of the Little Rock Baptist Church until her health declined. She was preceded in death by her husband, Isreal Scott; her parents, Rev. Aaron and Hester Wilkerson Williams; son, Terry Dwight Williams and brothers, Aaron Williams, Alex Williams and Rev. Jimmy Williams.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two children, Kenneth Wayne (Valerie) Williams of Maurice, LA and Nedra Scott Maryland (Solomon) of Rocky Mount, NC; one brother, Rev. Willie D. Williams of Bunkie; one brother-in-law, Vera Malveaux of Bunkie; six sisters-in-law, Marjorie Williams, Ester Bazile, Elnora Malveaux all of Bunkie, Mercedes Williams of St. Joseph, LA and Louberda Williams of Fresno, TX; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 6, 2011 from 9 a.m. until service time at the Little Rock Baptist Church.
