Ray Anthony Ducote
 
Funeral services for Ray A. Ducote will be held 11 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2008 at St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church with Father Anthony Dhamaraj, "Father Raj" officiating. Burial Will be in St. Mary's Assumption Cemetery #2 under the direction of Escude' Funeral Home of Cottonport.

Mr. Ducote died at his home on September 1, 2008.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in July 1941 at the age of 17. He served in the Navy for 6 years, 3 ½ of those aboard the Carrier U.S.S. Enterprise. He was awarded numerous medals & citations, including the Presidential Unit Citation. He was discharged in 1947 with the rank of Aviation Machinest's Mate First Class.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles C. Ducote and Eva Callegari Ducote; three brothers, Charles Ducote, Arthur V. Ducote and Stuart Ducote; two sisters, Irene Gremillion and Constance Juneau.

Survived by his wife of 54 ½ years Shirley Lacour Ducote; three children , Randy Ducote and wife Jeanne of Parker, Colorado, Lorraine D. Jennings and husband Rex of Vernal, Utah and Paula D. Thompson and husband Kerry of Columbia; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Escude' Funeral Home of Cottonport from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2008 with a rosary at 7 p.m. The Funeral Home will re-open at 9 a.m. Friday until departing for services.
