Robert L. "Bob" Laborde


LAFAYETTE - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at 11 a.m., at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home, for Robert L. "Bob" Laborde, 73, who passed away peacefully at home amongst his family on Saturday, August 9, 2008.

Interment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette.

The Rev. Monsignor DeRouen, pastor of Cathedral of St. John Evangelist, will conduct the funeral service.

Mr. Laborde was born August 6, 1935, and was raised in Bunkie, La. R. L., as he was known there, moved to Lafayette in 1957, where he was a teacher at Hamilton Training School. In 1958, he started working as a sales manager for Acme Brick Company, where he retired after 47 years. He was a member of Acadian Home Builders Association and ushered at St. Mary Catholic Church.

Bob's greatest joy was having his family at his home for meals. His hobbies were hunting, fishing and watching television.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda LeBlanc and her husband, C. J., and Cindy MacDonald, all of Youngsville; one son, Keith Laborde and his wife, Irene, of Exton, Pa.; and three grandsons, Lee and Kyle MacDonald, both of Youngsville, and Phillip Laborde, of Exton, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Riche' Laborde; and his parents, Dauthier Laborde, of Mansura, and the former Anita Watts, of Hessmer.

The family requests that visiting hours at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home be observed from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday and continue at 8 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday.

A rosary will be recited Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., by Rosa Richard in the Fountain Memorial Funeral Home Parlor.

Active pallbearers will be Lee MacDonald, Kyle MacDonald, C. J. LeBlanc, Randy Richie, Gerald Guilbeau and Gill Bergeron.

Honorary pallbearers are Phillip Laborde and Ken Richard.
