Kent J. JuneauA Mass of Christian Burial for Kent J. Juneau will be held at 11:00 a.m. , Wednesday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Bunkie , Louisiana . Burial will be in Pythian Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria and Hixson-Ducote, Funeral Home, Bunkie.

Visitation will be held at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. , Tuesday.

Kent J. Juneau was born on July 17, 1943 of the marriage by and between Myrstice Chenevert Juneau and Richard Joseph Juneau.

He is a 1961 graduate of Cottonport High School and attended Louisiana State University at Alexandria and University of Southwestern Louisiana before graduating from Commonwealth College of Mortuary Science, Houston , Texas in August 1964.

In September 1964, he married Gail Riche Juneau and began a long career with Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, where he served many families with loving care and respect for over forty-five years in the Alexandria , Pineville, Marksville and Bunkie offices.

He is the father of two children, Richard Juneau of Bunkie and his wife, Janelle Vidrine Juneau, and Jill Juneau Tassin of Bunkie and her husband, Patrick John Tassin. He is the loving grandfather of three grandchildren, Patrick Hayden Tassin, Ellie Katherine Tassin and Will Joseph Tassin.

Kent is also survived by one brother, Raynor Juneau of Bunkie, and his mother-in-law, Freda Descant Riche of Bunkie; uncles, Ned Juneau of Haughton, Carl Juneau of El Paso, Texas, and Reed Chenevert of Marksville.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Juelie Juneau Daigre, paternal grandparents, Emile Juneau and Eva Fuqua Juneau; maternal grandparents, Rushing Chenevert and Lillian Turner Chenevert.

Mr. Juneau served as President of Marksville Quarterback Club and President of Marksville Chapter of the Louisiana State Jaycees, a member of the Bunkie Rotary Club; member of St. Anthony Council of Knights of Columbus, parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church, where he serves as a Eucharistic Lay Minister, and member of Louisiana State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors.

Mr. Juneau enjoyed woodworking where through the years he designed and crafted many items of furniture for family and friends, the game of golf with his son and golf buddies, LSU football and baseball games, but received the most joy and pleasure from attending and watching football, baseball, softball basketball and cheerleading activities of his three grandchildren at St. Anthony Catholic School and Bunkie High School.

Pallbearers will be Richard Juneau, Patrick John Tassin, Patrick Hayden Tassin, Will Joseph Tassin, Jon Craig Riche and Charles Earnest.

Honorary pallbearers will include officers and staff of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home.

The family expresses their gratitude to Rapides Regional Medical Center , to Doctors Greg Ardoin, Carolyn Voelker, FNP, Howard Wold, Craig Pearce, Chance Dewitt and to the office staffs.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital , P. O. Box 3704 , Memphis , TN 38173-0704 .
