Leslie Rabalais


 
Sgt. Leslie Rabalais was born to Arnold and Bertha Dufour Rabalais in
Goudeau, Louisiana on April 24, 1921. He started school in Goudeau, was a 1936 graduate of EHS, and also attended Southwestern Louisiana Institute (SLI) in Lafayette.

Leslie enlisted in the Army soon after the war started on December 7, 1941 and served until the war ended in 1945. He served in the India, Burma, and China theaters of operation during WW II. He was involved in transporting supplies and ammunition to the Chinese on the Burma Road across the Himalayas .

Upon his return from the war, he and his wife Sybil made their home in
Alexandria, Louisiana where he was the owner of Rabalais Small Engines. They were the parents of four children, as follows: Lester, Richard, Gary, and Ann.

He lived in Alexandria until his death.
