Allen Rabalais


 
Sgt Allen Rabalais was born to Arnold and Bertha Dufour Rabalais in
Goudeau,Louisiana on April 24, 1921. He started school at the Goudeau
school (one-room school) and remained there until it was closed. Still in
the elementary grades, he was transferred to Evergreen High School (1-12).

He served in France and Germany with the 104th Inf. Timberwolves Division. Allen entered France at Normandy six days after D-Day (June 6, 1944) and fought across France and Germany until the U.S. forces met the Russians outside of Berlin. He was awarded the Bronze Star which he received just before his death.

Allen and his wife Ruby made their home in Lafayette after his return. He
was employed mostly in insurance sales, but was also involved in other type sales. They were the parents of five children, as follows: Ronald, Dianne, James, Jules, and Mary.

He lived in Lafayette until his death in April, 2003.
